English Language Learners (ELLs) in our classrooms benefit from specialized support to help them reach instructional goals while gaining proficiency in English. As a result of this workshop, Teaching Assistants will gain understanding about the stages of language acquisition and the role of the student’s home language, and will explore strategies for supporting ELLs with acclimation to school routines, developing communication skills in English, and reinforcing instruction.
