Crash Course for Providing Services to ELLs with Speech & Language Impairments - An Asynchronous & Synchronous Series - for MAHOPAC CSD ONLY - January 19, 2022 through May 18, 2022

This asynchronous, self-paced course begins with a Live Overview and Introduction on Wed., January 19, 2022, 8:30-9:30 AM; A Live Check-In on participants' course progress on Thurs., February 10, 2022, 2:00-3:00 PM; This course will end with a Live Follow-up and Debriefing on Fri., May 18, 2022, 8:30-9:00 AM.

In this workshop series, providers will be introduced to the stages of second language acquisition; how to monitor for progress in the levels of proficiency in English across 4 modalities (listening, speaking, reading and writing); strategies for supporting students at different levels; and how this knowledge relates to providing therapy for speech and language impairment with emergent bilingual students. Session 1 will be an overview and introduction to the self-paced course; Session 2 will be a check-in for the course; and Session 3 will be a follow-up and debriefing.

The total number of CTLE credit hours participants can earn will be 10 hours, if they complete 8 self-paced topics/quizzes and attend the first and last live sessions/meetings.
