With English Language Learners (ELLs), the fastest-growing student population in the country, teachers are looking for proven strategies and resources to help their students navigate learning a new language while providing equitable access to the curriculum. This series has two Modules of self-paced topics centered around best practices for all educators embracing their role and responsibility as an educator of ELLs and for ELLs. There will be a live orientation, one live check-in and a live debrief meeting to ensure your success with the course.
In Module 1, teachers will understand how and why the process of learning a new language should inform their instructional practice. Module 2 builds on the foundations of Module 1 with strategies to support your ELLs' development of literacy. Each "bite-sized" topic with the modules include a presentation with hyperlinked videos and resources to be explored at your own pace. Each topic ends with a quiz, for which you can earn 1 hour of CTLE for each quiz with 8/10 correct answers. Participants are not required to complete all of the topics in the modules and can earn partial credit for any topic and quiz completed, up to a total of 12 hours of CTLE, including attendance at the live meetings.
Links to the Course Materials and the Zoom meetings will be provided in the morning on the days of the Live sessions to registered participants at the email addresses they used to enroll in Frontline (MLP).
