WITsi for Long-Term ELLs (LTELs) - via Zoom (SESSION 3)

Writing is Thinking (WIT) involves explicit instruction in foundational writing skills to develop students' written and oral language, content knowledge and reading comprehension simultaneously. WIT is especially powerful for English learners because it also teaches how the English language works. Strategic inquiry (SI) involves close tracking of student progress over time to make sure that instructional interventions are having the desired effect. In combination, WIT & SI comprise a game-changing innovation for supporting advanced academic literacy for ELLs.

Please join us for this exciting online workshop which includes an introduction to the foundational sentence strategies in combination with structured inquiry to ensure progress in English language use and content knowledge for particular long-term English learners whom you teach.

This is a rich, experiential workshop delivered over five sessions of 3 hours each. Participants are expected to attend all sessions; to implement at least one intervention designed during the prior workshop between sessions; and to bring resulting evidence of student work for analysis and feedback.

Participants MUST be enrolled by Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

To access this workshop, a Zoom link for each session will be shared with registered participants to their email addresses used to enroll in Frontline (MLP), in the afternoon the day before each session.

Cost: Free
