Writing is Thinking (WIT) 101 for Social Studies - For Teachers of English Learners - via Zoom (SESSION 2)

Writing is Thinking (WIT) involves explicit instruction in expository writing skills to develop students' written and oral language, content knowledge and reading comprehension simultaneously. WIT is especially powerful for English learners because it also teaches how the English language works.

Please join us for this online workshop focused on the foundational, sentence-level strategies that form the heart of the WIT approach and that develop students' clear expression of complexity. This is a hands-on experiential workshop. Teachers will leave with strategies for immediate use with students as well as an understanding of how such strategies will support your content, skill and assessment goals.

This workshop is designed for Social Studies teachers of English learners in grades 3-12, including bi-lingual and co-teaching pairs. Participants are expected to attend all four sessions.

Participants MUST be enrolled by Sunday, April 17, 2022.

To access this workshop, a Zoom link for each session will be shared with registered participants to their email addresses used to enroll in Frontline (MLP), in the afternoon the day before each session.

Cost: Free
