In a blink of an eye, virtually all K-12 students in the United States transitioned from traditional face-to-face instruction to remote learning. Many parents and educators shared a common worry and question: When the pandemic subsides, will kids return to school with lower achievement? There are also concerns that the gap between high- and low-achieving students will become larger.
Now more than ever, it is imperative for educators to go far beyond focusing on literacy and mathematics. Educators that acknowledge, incorporate, and celebrate the whole child can provide access to a world many may view as impossible. They can give light when it may seem to be dimming.
This workshop will explore the various traumas many of our families may have experienced and tap into actionable steps we as educators and families can take to provide access for all students.
