When an ELL student is struggling academically, educators may consider a special education referral. This is a complex process and requires careful examination of multiple factors. During this workshop, participants will explore the intersection of the process of second language acquisition, cultural and linguistic factors, and federal and state guidelines. This knowledge will help teams develop a better understanding of the important considerations and intervention procedures leading to improved outcomes.
This workshop is presented in partnership with the Hudson Valley Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (HV RBERN) at no cost, and is facilitated by Alison Provencher, Resource Specialist.
