WIT 101 - The Mighty Sentence - For Teachers of English Learners Across Content Areas in Grades 3-12 - November 14 through December 5, 2023 - at SWBOCES (SESSION 3)

  • Southern Westchester BOCES 450 Mamaroneck Avenue, 3rd Floor Harrison United States (map)

Writing is Thinking (WIT 101) involves explicit instruction in expository writing skills to develop students' written and oral language, content knowledge and reading comprehension simultaneously. WIT 101 is especially powerful for English learners because it also teaches how the English language works.

This introductory, hands-on workshop focuses on the foundational sentence-level strategies that form the heart of the WIT approach and that develop students' clear expression of complexity in all content areas. Teachers will leave with strategies for immediate use with students, as well as an understanding of how such strategies will support your content, skill and assessment goals.

Session 1: November 14, 2023, 9:00-3:00 PM
Session 2: November 21, 2023, 9:00-3:00 PM
Session 3: December 5, 2023, 9:00-3:00 PM

Participants are expected to attend all three sessions.
