This professional learning series is a collaboration between SW BOCES School Library Systems and the Hudson Valley RBERN team. It is designed to promote teamwork between ENL teachers and School Librarians from the same school. School Librarians and ENL teachers should register to attend together as a team for all sessions. This activity is eligible for ELL CTLE credit.
During the first session, teams will begin collaborating on a special end-of-year event for ELL students that includes literacy components and recognition of their students' achievements. Participants will be provided with strategies to help them develop a strong foundation for a successful partnership.
School Librarians and ENL teachers working together can provide powerful learning opportunities for English Language Learners and their families. We invite you to attend this series to learn more about each other's area of expertise and begin building a new partnership that benefits your ELLs.
Session 1 (March 6th, Full Day, 8:30 - 3:00 PM, In-person) - 5.5 credits
Session begins with a presentation, after which participants go into breakout sessions.
Session 2 (April 10th, ½ day, 8:30 - 11:00 AM, In-person) - 2.5 credits
Working session for teams to continue developing their plans and receive feedback and support from SLS and RBERN staff.
Session 3 (May 4th, 3:00-4:00 PM, via Zoom) - 1 credit
Check-in Session (OPTIONAL)
A Zoom link will be shared with registered participants, by the morning of May 4th, to the email addresses used to enroll in Frontline (MLP).
Session 4 (June 9th, ½ day, 12:00 - 3:00 PM, In-person) - 3 credits
Participants will review and share their experiences and discuss ideas for continued collaboration with their partners.
