**THIS IS PART 1 OF A 2-PART SERIES**
Course launches on January 8, 2024 and continues asynchronously through February 16, 2024.
Teachers will develop an understanding of who language learners are, how and why the process of learning a new language should inform their instructional practice, and understand how the stages of language acquisition relate to proficiency levels.
Topic 1. Who are our ELL subgroups and what is Part 154?
Topic 2. Why does language acquisition take so long?
Topic 3. ELLs need comprehensible input. How do we make content visible?
Topic 4. How do we differentiate instruction based on the level of proficiency?
Topic 5. What does it mean to promote Language Equity and Identity?
Participants are strongly encouraged to complete Module 1 before beginning Module 2 (unless they did so last year). Participants must successfully complete 5 topic quizzes in order to earn 5 hours of CTLE by the end of the course.
