Course launches live via Zoom on February 26, 2024 at 3:00 PM and continues asynchronously through April 12, 2024.
Teachers will learn what is different about teaching reading to ELLs, the importance of background knowledge in reading, how to incorporate vocabulary routines, writing strategies and supporting students before, during and after reading.
Topic 1. Teaching Reading to ELLs- What's different?
Topic 2. The Power of Background Knowledge.
Topic 3. Incorporating Vocabulary Routines.
Topic 4. Writing Strategies for ELLs across Content Areas.
Topic 5. Before, During and After Reading Strategies.
Participants are strongly encouraged to complete Module 1 before beginning Module 2 (unless they did so last year). Participants must successfully complete 5 topic quizzes in order to earn 5 hours of CTLE by the end of the course.
