The Hudson Valley RBERN is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Bilingual Educators’ Conference on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the Crestview Conference Center in Rockland County.

We will be inviting Hudson Valley bilingual/dual language educators to submit proposals for breakout sessions to highlight the expertise happening in our classrooms and schools.

A call for proposals will be going out next week. Conference registration will be available later this summer.

Important NYSED memo: Immigrant student count date changed to June 10, 2019.

Please see the memo below for an important policy change regarding the collection of immigrant students for 2019-20 ESSA Title III Immigrant Allocations.

The date for immigrant counts will move to June 10, 2019, replacing earlier guidance for counting on October 3, “BEDS Day.” The full NYSED memo can be viewed here.

As a reminder, immigrant children and youth are defined as individuals who: are aged 3 through 21; have not been attending school in any one or more States for more than three (3) full academic years; and were not born in any state.
