In this workshop, participants will discuss the benefits and challenges of developing ELLs ability to ask and answer questions and understand research behind the benefits of classroom discourse. Participants will receive tools for scaffolding questions at each level of English Proficiency based on Bloom’s Taxonomy. Participants will also plan for instruction using a modified version of the Question Formulation Technique (QFT). Teachers can utilize the QFT to encourage student engagement through inquiry.
Participants should bring an upcoming unit plan (to plan for questioning and discussion activities.)
