ELA Standards and Linguistically Diverse Learners: Advanced Literacies for Academic Success - ONLINE Course - December 28 through January 18, 2021

What are Advanced Literacies, and how do they relate to ELL/MLL learner success? In this workshop, participants will take a deep dive into the Advanced Literacy Briefs on Linguistically Diverse Learners and the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, provided to NYS by Nonie K. Lesaux, PhD & Emily Phillips Galloway, Ed.D. This workshop will define and explore the skills and competencies that enable the achievement of linguistically diverse students in literacy while allowing participants to evaluate current structures for the existence of Advanced Literacy Hallmarks, using a tool developed to gauge effectiveness of Curriculum, Materials and Instruction.

This workshop is a follow-up to the online workshop "NYS Next Generation ELA Standards - What Educators of ELLs Need to Know"; however, you do not need to have participated in that workshop to participate in this one.

The estimated amount of time needed to complete this module is approximately 6 hours. You may stop at any time and resume it at any time.
