NYS Commissioner's Regulations Subpart 154-3 established a screening process for identifying a student with a disability, who may also be an English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner (ELL/MLL).
In this workshop, participants will examine guidance for identifying the role of the Language Proficiency Team, to whom it applies, and its members' responsibilities. School or district-based teams can develop a plan to identify a language acquisition need when a student has a disability. We will review the steps of ELL identification for a student who already has an IEP and key documents important to the process. A Q&A session will follow. Please have a digital or paper copy of the guidance document found here: Guidance Determining English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner (ELL/MLL) Status of and Services for Students with Disabilities.
A Zoom link will be provided to registered participants ahead of time to access this workshop.
