WIT 101 is a pre-requisite for WIT 102.
Writing is Thinking (WIT 102) involves explicit instruction in expository writing skills to develop students' written and oral language, content knowledge and reading comprehension simultaneously. WIT 102 is especially powerful for English learners because it also teaches how the English language works.
This intermediate workshop focuses on note-taking and paragraph-level skills. Like with the sentence strategies, these skills advance all domains of academic literacy, and are thus extremely relevant for all subject area teachers, including those who will not be teaching paragraph writing per se. The workshop will make clear how the strategies can be used to support clear, rigorous academic thinking and expression and how they will serve your content-specific goals.
