Greetings!

As a reminder, the HV RBERN team is holding Office Hours twice monthly on Monday afternoons, from 3:00–4:00 PM. We have office hours today, September 21! Please see our events calendar for other dates. During Office Hours, HV RBERN staff will be available to answer questions and to serve as thinking partners. If you have an inquiry or a topic that you want to discuss with RBERN team members, please complete this survey. Our team will then send you the Office Hours' connection information. Last minute drop-ins are welcome.

The New York State Education Department recently approved three additional pathway assessments. The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Arabic was added to the Department-Approved Pathway Assessments in Languages Other Than English and the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) 21st Century Skills for Workplace Success and Employability Skills

Assessments were added to the Department-Approved Pathway Assessments in Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS).

Family Ties of Westchester, Inc. is offering online, evidence-based parent skills coaching for caregivers.

These sessions will promote positive, strength-based relationships, and will support caregivers by enhancing their skills, fortifying effective communication techniques and fostering parenting self-esteem. These sessions will only be available in Spanish. For more information view English and Spanish flyers here.

Other Professional Development

The Thelma P. Lally School of Education at The College of Saint Rose has launched a new online advanced certificate in Teaching English as a New Language. This graduate certificate of advanced study in TESOL enables those with initial teacher certification in early childhood, childhood, or adolescence education to earn NYSED certification as a teacher of English as a New Language. The program encourages the development of education professionals who are reflective practitioners, able to link content, theory, and practice, and able to create effective learning environments for all learners. The next class begins October 15th.
