PRHYLI 2020-2021 a Virtual Success!
/In October 2020, the Hudson Valley RBERN began recruiting students from our region to participate in the Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI). Seventy-four (74) students applied and were accepted into the training program, which began in December 2020. Students participated in nearly a dozen virtual training sessions outside of school hours to learn more about public speaking, government, leadership, NYS Assembly protocol, essay writing, and debate skills.

Upon completion of the training program, the Hudson Valley PRHYLI team "brought" to Albany the delegation for the virtual PRHYLI Weekend on March 13-14. During the weekend, students participated in multiple cultural and leadership-focused workshops on Saturday and then debated bills in the Mock Assembly on Sunday.
After the Mock Assembly, students earned recognition and scholarships were awarded.
